Shown here is the completed saucer façade. The light boxes running around the top of the semicircle are plastic storage bins that are screwed onto the wood used to assemble each triangular panel. A fair amount of planning and several prototypes helped determine where to best position these elements and while I was satisfied with the results, I would have preferred round, spherical lights instead of rectangualr shapes. Alas there were no good ones to be found where I live...

At this point, it was about 2 weeks before Halloween. People driving by our house were continually slowing down to try to figure out just what the weird structure was. Many people had no clue: guesses ranged from a satellite TV dish to a high tech water heater/purifier to a turkey or a peacock. I don't understand the last 2.

Other people got it. Employees at local high tech companies (geeks) would see me working away and come over to express their appreciation of my efforts. Cars would stop in front of our house at all hours of the day/night and people would quickly get out and take pictures of the scene. In any event, it was always rewarding when somebody would take the time to let me know they enjoyed what I was doing.
